William Kenneth Stoneking, 58, of Carbon Hill, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. The Rev. Don Graham will officiate.
Stoneking was born Jan. 8, 1959, in St. Louis, Mo. He was a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa and a friend. He was a child at heart and he loved teaching and showing the children of his family and friends fantastic new experiences. He enjoyed the outdoors whether it be camping, fishing, kayaking or riding his bike. He also spent his extra time turning wood into masterpieces. He was an avid Alabama football fan “Roll Tide.” Many turned to him for guidance and he always offered his kind, honest, loving words of wisdom. He was truly loved by many and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bettye Joan Brennecke Stoneking; and grandparents, Fred Brennecke and Louise Brennecke, Marvin Lee Stoneking and Flossie Marie Pettit.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean Atkins Stoneking; son, Jacob William Stoneking; grandson, William Blake “Will” Stoneking; father and stepmother, William Larue Stoneking and Rose Marie Stoneking; sister, Rena Patricia Mueller; and brother, Robert Lynn Stoneking.
