Tina Wallace of the Yerkwood community represented Walker County in the state competition of the United States National Pageant system recently, being crowned Ms Woman Alabama for 2020 and also being named Ms. Congeniality.
The win at the June 26-28 event in Greenville "qualifies me to compete in the national Miss United States pageant to be held in Las Vegas from Oct. 11-15, 2020, representing Alabama in the Ms. Woman division," Wallace texted recently to the Eagle.
"This was such a rewarding event and I loved representing my county!" she said.
Wallace is the daughter of the late Rev Nathaniel Hawkins Jr and Estell Hawkins.
"I actually competed in the Ms Woman Division which is designated for woman who may or not have previously been married or may or may not have had children," she said. "The age is 36 years and older. I am a 52-year-old widow with two children, Josef Wallace Jr (20) and Sarah Wallace (18). I am a 1985 graduate of Dora High School."
She obtained bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Alabama and currently works as a speech language pathologist at Cordova Nursing Home.
