Vinita Piper Courington, 55 of Parrish, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Walker Baptist Medical Center.
Vinita was a dedicated Gigi, a loving daughter, a goofy sister, and a devoted friend. Her grandson, Fisher, was her pride and joy. She was always at his games to cheer for him and his teammates. To her children, she was an ever-present friend and supporter. Vinita had a witty sense of humor and always made her family and friends laugh. She enjoyed making quilts for loved ones, collecting antiques, and making arts and crafts. She loved the students and the staff at Parrish Elementary School, her church family at Jasper Church of God of Prophecy, and Alabama football. Vinita's zest for life, her love of others, her selfless attitude, and devout faith will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, September 21st at 6 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 22nd at 12 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Pastor Leland Lowery will officiate. She will be laid to rest immediately afterwards at Studdard's Crossroads Cemetery near Carbon Hill.
Mrs. Courington was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Piper; grandmothers, Myrtle Piper and Dolly Studdard.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Courington; daughter, Bethany Smith; son, Patrick Smith; mother, Josephine Piper; grandson, Fisher Freeman; stepdaughter, Tori Crase; step granddaughter, Presley Crase; sisters, Melinda Hutchison (Robert), Lisa Gillott (Barry) and Regina Hudson (Newt); brothers, Darrell Piper and Michael Piper; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Crawford, Fisher Freeman, Blake Hudson, Robert Hutchison, Nic Gillott, Erik Piper, Jeremy Piper, and Spencer Piper.
