STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON LEWIS SMITH LAKE
Oakman High School’s Reid Winchester and boat captain David Thompson, top photo, bag one of the five bass caught by Winchester and Sawyer Thompson Saturday during Day 2 of the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association’s state tournament on Lewis Smith Lake. The tournament brought 42 high school fishing teams from across the state to Smith Lake for the two-day tournament. Above left, an angler from Shelby County High shows off one of the fish he caught Saturday, while a Fayetteville High angler, above right, weighs a bass in the big fish competition. Local schools competing included Oakman, Corner and Addison high schools. Class 5A Alexandria High School won both the tournament title and the state championship.
