Sumiton Christian finishes Oxford tournament 3-1

The Sumiton Christian Eagles battled four ranked opponents on Friday and Saturday at the Oxford Tournament, ending the weekend by going 1-1 on Day 2 and 3-1 overall.

The Eagles beat Class 4A, No. 3 Cleburne County and Class 7A, No. 6 Vestavia Hills on Friday and followed with a victory over Class 6A, No. 2 Helena beofre falling to Class 6A, No. 8 Springville on Saturday.

Sumiton Christian 4 Helena 1

Bailie Hall gave up six hit and an earned run with five strikeouts against Class 6A, No. 2 Helena.

At the plate, Hall went 2 for 3 with a run scored, an RBI and a double, BG Braswell was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Jessie Baughan recorded a hit with two RBIs, Maddie McCrary had a hit with an RBI and Gracie Ashley recorded a double with a run scored.

Springville 6, Sumiton Christian 0

Hall pitched four innings against Class 6A, No. 8 Springville, giving up four hits, no earned runs with five strikeouts. Kalista Cornelison pitched an innings with no earned runs.

Offensively, Ashley went 2 for 3 with a double and Baughan recorded a triple.

Addison 12, Lynn 5

AG Luker pitched seven innings for the Bulldogs, giving up four hits and striking out seven batters.

At the plate for Addison, AG Luker went 3 for 5 with a run scored, two RBIs, a double and a triple, Saige Carter was 3 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI, Madison Aderholt went 3 for 5 with a run scored, an RBI and a double, Dacey Baker recorded a double with two runs scored and an RBI, Macayla Wilkins had a hit with three RBIs, Karley Earley recorded a hit with a run scored and two RBIs, Lexie Luker scored two runs, Lydia Ergle had a run scored and an RBI and Haley Walker had a run scored and drove-in a run.

Breanna Barton pitched four innings for Lynn, striking out three batters. Gracie Jordan pitched two innings with a strikeout.

Offensively, Kamri Tittle hit a home run with two runs scored and two RBIs, Sadie Tittle recorded a hit with two RBIs, Anna Hosler had a hit with two runs scored, Gracie Jordan recorded a hit and Phebe Burkett scored a run.

Addison 4, Meek 3

AG Luker pitched seven innings with eight strikeouts for Addison.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, AG Luker had a double with a run scored and two RBIs, Earley had a hit with a run scored, Aderholt and Carter recorded a hit each, and Ergle and Haley Walker each scored a run.

Marlee Mosley pitched seven innings for Meek, giving up four hits, an earned run and two strikeouts.

At the plate, Abby Phillips went 2 for 3 with a homerun, a run scored and two RBIs, Mosley recorded a hit with an RBI, Christina Tyree and Savannah Smith had a hit each and Courtney Lane and Hannah Taylor scored a run each.

Alena Howse pitched four innings in the loss for Curry, giving up four hits and an earned run with a strikeout. Ella Reese Wright pitched two innings, giving up four hits with a strikeout.
