Sandra Brown Roberts

Sandra Brown Roberts, 82, of Jasper, passed away peacefully at Brookwood Walker Baptist Medical Center on October 14, 2021, after a brief but brave battle with lung cancer.

As a woman of unwavering faith, she worshipped at several local churches in Jasper, including First Baptist Church, Christ United Methodist Church and First Methodist Church of Jasper. She enjoyed attending her Bible study group and many women's groups that she was involved with. She adored travel, and spending time with friends and family. She was the epitome of grace, selflessness, and unconditional love. Her compassion, strength, and faith in God inspired everyone she knew.

Born on August 28, 1939, she lived in Jasper most of her life. She attended the local schools, and graduated from Walker High School in 1957. In 2020, she reconnected with classmate Buddy Roberts. They fell in love and married in June of this year. Having everything in the world in common, she and Buddy had great plans for how they were to spend the rest of their days. Though Buddy and the rest of us will miss her here on Earth, we all find great comfort that she has gone to Heaven to be with our Lord, and now she is at peace.

She is survived in life by her daughter, Leigh S. Carter and her husband Jon; her great-grandson, Ashton "Ash"; her loving and devoted husband, Leonard L. "Buddy" Roberts; his son, Leonard L. "Robin" Roberts II and his wife Carmen. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Margaret Ann Saddler Corbett and her late husband Mike Corbett; her stepson, Latham Green "Sandy" Saddler Jr. and his wife Belle; granddaughter, Lauren Saddler Pearson and her husband Reverend Andrew Pearson; their children, Lily, Mary Cabell, and Ware Pearson; grandson, Latham Greene Saddler III and his wife Melissa; their children, Latham IV and Marshall Saddler, and grandson, Stuart Ashby Saddler. She also leaves behind an abundance of cousins, extended family, and wonderful friends that were all like family to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lee Brown Jr. and Beulah Scruggs Brown; her first husband, Lieutenant William Thomas Cain; their son, William Thomas "Tommy" Cain Simmons; her grandson, Jonathan "Cain" Carter; and her husband, Latham Green Saddler Sr., affectionately known as "Satch".

A graveside service will be held for her family at Oak Hill Cemetery Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11 a.m., with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Andrew Pearson will officiate.
