Samuel Corey Hood, 56, of Jasper, went home to his Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, surrounded by his family, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.
Sam is the owner of Freeman-Hood Funeral Services, along with his partner, Dennis Freeman.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Gerald Hood; and granddaughter, Haven Kate Hood .
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Hood; children, Jake Hood and his wife, Amanda, Lauren Walker and her husband, Corey, Chase Hood and his wife, Kattie, and Jordan Faulkner; mother, Joan Hood; sister, Dana Sorensen and her husband, Chris; brother, Brian Hood and jis wife, Jade; grandchildren, Finley Hood, Rhett Hood, Mac Walker, Griffin Walker, Ellie Kate Hood, Sawyer Hood and Wyatt Hood; nephews, Kalin Sorensen and Clay Sorensen and his wife, Caitlyn, Maddox Green and Lawson Hood; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Jake and Chase Hood; his brother, Brian Hood; his brother-in-law, Chris Sorensen; and his nephews, Kalin and Clay Sorensen.
Honorary pallbearers will be his son-in-law, Corey Walker; his stepson, Jordan Faulkner; dear friends, Tim Hooper, Mike Mixon, Jeff Tyler, Danny Bagwell, Jimmy Dover, Marty Martin, Heath Mixon, Dusty Walker and Heath Richards.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sam’s name to the Desperation Church Jasper campus.
The family would also like to acknowledge the outpouring of love that they have been blessed with by all of those that know and love Sam. And a special thank you to Frankie Posten, T.J. Armstrong, and Joe Herron.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, at 1 p.m. at New Oak Grove Baptist Church, with funeral services at 2:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Adam Hicks, J.D. Dickerson and Chris Pschirer will officiate.
