Ronald Dean Slagle

Ronald Dean Slagle, of Jasper, passed away peacefully at his home October 20, 2020.

A private burial will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. 

Ronald Slagle was born March 24, 1947 in Morrisville, Mo., to Glen and Faye Slagle. After graduating from Morrisville High School, he enlisted in the Navy in 1965 and served for four years. He served in Vietnam and was the recipient of National Defense Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was discharged in 1969 achieving the rank of GMG2. Ronald began work for Frisco Railroad in 1980 and retired from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in 2010. 

Ronald Slagle married Linda Davis in 1970 and they were about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on October 24. Ronald attended Glory Fellowship Baptist Church. He enjoyed painting and quilting. 

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Faye Slagle. 

Ronald is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Michelle (Shane) Bland and Heather (Brandi) Slagle; his son, Brian Slagle; his siblings, Glenda (Art) Belt, Linda (Larry) Mohler, Donnie (Janett) Slagle, Anita (Donni) Ellis; and grandchildren, Lauren Bland, Tayler Brunson and Piper Slagle.
