Richard Lee Summers of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the age of 58. He was a loving husband and a friend to all. He had a natural ability to turn a sad situation into a happy one. He was a funny, caring, and a hardworking man.
Richard was a 30-year owner of his own business, Doberman Transportation Services, where he truly made an impact on everyone he met. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his family, pets and friends, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winifred Summers; brothers in law, Joey McCarty, Bobby McCarty, and Andy Blankenship.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leigh Summers; sisters, Alexa Masser (George), Judy Taylor (James); brother, Dave Summers, (Karen); mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Harold Shrader; sisters in law, Bobbi Roberts, Christina Wolfe, Betsy Harmon, Jennifer Blankenship, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family, pets and loving friends.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at The Middletown VFC Activities Building. It is located at, 1 fireman’s LN, Middletown, MD 21769.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Parkinson’s foundation or to the Jasper Humane Society.
