CURRY — Third-ranked Curry picked up two lopsided area wins and finished 3-0 in a home quad-match on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets defeated both Good Hope (25-15, 25-20, 25-15) and Hanceville (25-11, 25-8, 25-8) in Class 4A, Area 11 matches before beating Dora (25-18, 19-25, 15-7) in the finale.

On the day, Curry (26-5) was led by Grayson Evans with 36 kills, 16 aces, four digs and two blocks, Rae Ann Hall had 23 kills, 17 digs, six aces, three assists and one block, Alayna Key had 17 digs, eight aces, one kill and one assist while Linley Tubbs had seven blocks, five kills, eight aces and two digs.

Allie Downs had 67 assists, five digs, five aces, one kill and one block, Molly Pavlovec, Emmalee Berry had four aces, three kills, three blocks and two digs, Liz Barnett had four kills, two digs and a block and Raegan Dunagan added four digs and a kill.


Dora goes 1-2 at Curry

Dora played three matches on Tuesday, going 1-2 at Curry.

The Bulldogs lost to Good Hope (18-25, 25-19, 15-13) and defeated Hanceville (25-14, 25-10) before falling to Curry (25-18, 19-25, 15-7) in Tuesday's final match.

Zharia Hubbard had 20 kills, 31 digs, nine blocks and six aces on the day, Ja'kiyah Womack had 16 kills and six blocks, Michaela Brown had 41 digs, 10 aces and three kills, Mckenzie Tolbert had 30 assists, four digs and two aces, Jasmine Parker had 22 digs and four aces, Rukia Chapel added 22 digs, one ace and one kills, Nicole Ballenger had six kills, five blocks, four digs and four assists, Gracie Slate had nine assists, six aces and five digs, Rebecca Wade had four kills and six digs and Makaiyah Smith had five digs, two kills and one block.


No. 5 Jasper falls on road

Hoover, the top-ranked team in Class 7A, handed the Jasper Vikings a straight-set loss on Tuesday, picking up a 25-20, 26-24, 25-10 victory.

For the Vikings, Alex Oliver had 13 kills, Sydnee Graeber had six kills and two aces, Dayion Johnson had three kills and two blocks, Alayna Hattaway had three kills, Hallie Harrell had two kills, Ally Grace Salors added 22 assists and Tryneti Chatman had 14 digs.

Jasper (23-7) win a pair of Class 6A, Area 10 matches on Tuesday, sweeping both Jackson-Olin and Minor in three-set wins.
