CURRY — Third-ranked Curry dominated from start to finish in its Class 4A sub-region game Saturday morning at Curry High School.
The Yellow Jackets (51-10) ousted No. 7 Priceville 25-13, 25-9, 25-14 to earn a spot in next week’s North Regional Tournament in Huntsville. Curry takes on No. 10 Rogers at 10 a.m. on Friday with the winner earning a spot in the State Volleyball Tournament.
The win continued Curry’s hot streak at the end of the season.
“We’ve been playing pretty good over the last two weeks. We’ve been working on our mental focus and how we approach each practice,” Curry coach Saige Beaty said. “The girls know that in these rounds it’s a one-and-done format. We are making sure that we are focused for all 25 points in a set.”
Curry took early control of all three sets early against Priceville, never letting the Bulldogs within striking distance.
Against Priceville, Rae Ann Hall led a balanced Curry attack with 12 kills, nine digs and two aces while Allie Downs had 25 assists, seven digs, five aces and one kill.
Also for Curry, Emmalee Berry had nine kills, one ace, one block and one assist, Grayson Evans had eight kills, 12 digs, two aces and a block, Linley Tubbs added three kills, two blocks, one ace and one dig, Alayna Key had 13 digs and one ace, Liz Barnett had two kills, Raegan Dunagan had four digs, Molly Pavlovec had two digs and Emma Grace Hodges had a kill.
Curry went a perfect 3-0 against Priceville this season.
