Jasper earns sweep of Dora

OAKMAN — Eleven different Oakman players scored points and the Wildcats coasted to a 62-38 victory over Addison in a game played Tuesday afternoon at Oakman High School.
The 10th-ranked Wildcats, who improved to 19-5, jumped out to an early first-quarter lead and never looked back. They led 15-8 after the opening quarter.
Addison got as close as four points at 19-15 after a Christian Roberts’ 3-pointer at the 4:30 mark of the second quarter, but Oakman’s Dawson Crowell responded with a 3-pointer of his own to push the lead back to seven points. 
Christian Hubbard made a pair of free throws and Crowell added a driving layup for a 26-15 Wildcat lead. 
Oakman led 26-17 at the half. Skylar Hice, who was named county tournament MVP last week, buried back-to-back 3-pointers to start the third quarter, giving the Wildcats a 32-17 lead. Oakman led 44-24 after three quarters following a Derrick Hubbard basket and a Hubbard assist to Trey Thomas for an open layup.
The Wildcats led by as many as 25 points in the final quarter after a Cannon Taylor 3-pointer and a Hice dunk made the score 49-24.
Hice, Christian Hubbard and AJ Odom each had 10 points for Oakman, Taylor, Ketch Jones and Crowell each had five points, Thomas put in four, Brody Harbison and Dray Willingham each had three points and both Derrick Hubbard and Bubba Odom added two.
For Addison (11-13), Logan Wilkins had a game-high 18 points, Cannon Hiller added six points while both Quentin Barley and Hayden McLamb had five points, Roberts had three and Eli Howse put in one point.
Oakman plays the regular-season finale at Dora on Thursday. Addison hosts Falkville on Thursday.
The Wildcats will play in the Class 3A, Area 10 Tournament at Winfield next week. Oakman will face Carbon Hill in the opening round with the loser seeing their season come to an end. 
Varsity Girls
Jasper 51, Dora 26
Jasper’s girls won their 16th game of the season on Tuesday at Dora — matching the win total of the last three years combined.
Three Jasper girls scored in double figures, leading the Vikings to a 51-26 Class 5A, Area 11 win at Dora.
Jasper (16-11, 6-2) led 9-4 after the opening quarter and 18-10 at the half. The Vikings took control in the second half, outscoring Dora 33-16. 
Amia Porter and Hallie Harrell led Jasper with 12 points each, Idaysia Mercer added 10 points, Jordan Gilbert had six, Anna Kate Herring had five, Kelsey Shelton put in four and Cagejia Hosey added two.
Coach Blake Laney, who has the Vikings sitting in second place in the area standings, is in his first year as the Jasper girls head coach. 
For Dora (7-12, 2-6), Zharia Hubbard had 12 and Ja’Mya Harris added six.
Varsity Boys
Jasper 69, Dora 46
Jasper closed out Class 5A, Area 11 play with a 69-46 road win over Dora on Tuesday night.
The Vikings (15-11, 6-2) took an early lead and built on it throughout the game. Jasper led 17-11 after the first quarter and 32-23 at the half. They pushed the lead to 17 points, 51-34, going into the final quarter.
Brent Geeter led the Vikings with 14 points, Harrison Saunders added 13, Antione Harris had nine, both Kaden Shelton and Denzel Chatman had six while John David Harrell, Anthony Harris and EJ Colbert put in five.
For Dora, Kavin Towns had 17 points and Kaleb Towns added 11.
Jasper plays Hamilton in its home finale on Thursday. The Vikings close the regular season at Northridge on Friday.
Dora hosts Oakman on Thursday.

Sumiton Christian 55, Altamont 50
Sumiton Christian closed out Class 2A, Area 10 play with a 55-50 road win over Altamont on Tuesday.
For the Eagles (18-10, 3-3), Cody Long had 14 points, Isaiah Wright added 11 and Jase Barrentine had 10. 
Sumiton Christian hosts Lynn on Thursday.
