Matt Woods, a Jasper Republican representing House District 13, was sworn in as Walker County's newest member of the Alabama House of Representatives on Tuesday night at the Jasper Civic Center. He was surrounded by family as Circuit Judge Joeletta Barrentine administered the oath. During a speech by state Sen. Greg Reed, R-Jasper, the power failed due to storms in the middle of the program, requiring an emergency light to be brought in to hold the swearing in and allow Woods to speak to a packed room of supporters.
