Peggy was born August 19, 1937, in Birmingham. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, granny and friend. Peggy was a fun spirited woman with a contagious laugh and a smile that could light up a room. She was gentle and kind hearted. Peggy loved the Lord and that was evident in the way that she loved others. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. She may not be here with us on Earth, but we look forward to a beautiful reunion in Heaven one day. Peggy will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on. As she would always say, “We are going to be alright.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.M. and Lillian Poole Jackson; brother, Raymond Jackson; her loving husband of 34 years and father of her children, Billy Taft Sr.; son, Billy “Neal” Taft, Jr.; grandson, Josh Caradine; and her husbands, Jim Hand and James C. May.
She is survived by her brother, Buddy Jackson (Linda); children, Sharon Wright (Allen), Brenda Pate, Cindy Spinks, Robbin Caradine (Jack) and Jerry Taft (Debbie); grandchildren, Shawn Higgins, Dawn McMillin, Brandon Pate, Darrick Wright, Julia Lyons, Wesley Pate, Brandy Taft, Billy Neal Taft III, Jeremy Higgins, Jeri Dawn Shaver, Taylor Taft, Brooklyn Taft and Brilee Taft; and 21 great-grandchildren.
