Parker builds big 1st-half lead, beats Cordova


CORDOVA — The Parker Thundering Herd scored on every possession in the first half to cruise to a 42-20 win over the Cordova Blue Devils on Friday night at Hudson-Kerby Field.

Cody Headrick and his receiving corps had a stellar performance in the loss, completing 18 of 29 passes for 222 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. His top target was Cade Narramore with nine catches for 100 yards. Corea Killings had three catches for 87 yards with a touchdown.

Down 35-0 with one minute left in the first half, the Blue Devils got on the scoreboard with a 58-yard pass from Headrick to Killings for the score. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, cutting the lead to 35-6.

The ensuing kickoff was returned by Parker 70 yards for a touchdown, allowing the Thundering Herd to remain in command, 42-6 at the half.

Cordova scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the first on a nine-yard pass from Headrick to Jake Kiser. The extra point kick missed, with Parker ahead 40-12.

Jack Gable ran four yards into the endzone for the second fourth-quarter touchdown, with Headrick connecting on a pass to Jordan Perrin for the two-point conversion and the 42-20 final.

Cordova (1-7, 1-6) wraps-up their region schedule next week against Fairfield.
