He played baseball, but excelled at football and basketball. Don turned down scholarships from both Sanford and Jacksonville to marry and begin a family of his own with his beloved Lucy. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. Don had a never say die, never quit, never give up or give in attitude. He believed you could overcome any obstacle with the support of your family and by the grace of God. Don wrote these words in 1959 “Time will tell how fertile is the earth and minds of men.”
