New mining operation proposed in Carbon Hill

Company officials say city would get 25 cents per ton that’s mined

CARBON HILL — A company has given notice to the city of Carbon Hill it wants to start a new highwall coal mine in Carbon Hill, seeking permission from the city before getting permits and promising to give back 25 cents to the city for each clean ton produced.
