Lonnie Jones, 78, of Jasper went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 10 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at Collins Burke Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at Bennett Cemetery. Jackie Key and Daniel Gann will officiate.
Jones was a coal miner at MaryLee 2 for years until his retirement. Since he retired, he has been driving cars for Jasper Auto Sales. He loved Alabama football. He also loved fishing and camping with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Pearl Jones; daughter, Nena Jones; and his brother, Troy Jones.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Dean Jones; his son, Brian Jones (Tia); sister, Pat Rigsby (Carson); six grandchildren, Amanda Tatum, Andrew Edwards (Tiffney), Zac Jones (Darby), Kaci Jones, Hannah Jones and Nic Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Jyllian Adams, Hunter Mcniese, Brentley Pugh, Kaiden Edwards, Brookelyn Mcniese, Kynlee Graham and Bryant Edwards.
Pallbearers will be the drivers from Jasper Auto Sales.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.
