Local stars continue to contribute in SEC, ACC

Alabama's KB Sides, Auburn's Kaylee Horton and Boston College's Jenna Ergle continue to post good performances against SEC and ACC competition in the early 2021 season.

The fifth-ranked and undefeated Crimson Tide hosted the Easton Bama Bash during the weekend, twice beating Liberty and No. 8 LSU. In Alabama's 6-3 victory over Liberty, Sides went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base, then recorded a hit and a steal against the Tigers in a 5-2 win. The Tide's second win over Liberty, 8-1, saw Sides go 2 for 3 with a run scored and a double.

Auburn competed in the Osprey/Dolphin Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., posting a wins over No. 19 South Carolina and Jacksonville University before falling to the Gamecocks in the final game. In the 5-4 win over South Carolina, Horton was 2 for 4 with a run scored, and followed with a 1 for 3 performance in the win over Jacksonville, with a run scored and an RBI.

On Saturday, Ergle went 1 for 2 in Boston College's 7-6 loss to North Carolina State, with a run scored and an RBI. She had a run scored against the Wolfpack in a loss on Wednesday and recorded an RBI against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday.
