John Ray Hinds, 77, of Carbon Hill, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, at his Chickasaw residence surrounded by family.
Family will be receiving friends Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Carbon Hill Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow
Ray was a devoted husband, Daddy and Pop. He loved the Lord and truly set a Christian example to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Pat Hinds, and they enjoyed 57 years together.
He is also survived by their three children, Darrin Ray and Dawn Hinds of Memphis, Tenn., Trisha and Christian Gann of Carbon Hill, Ala., and Kiley and Jodi Hinds of Jackson, Miss., and eight grandchildren, Hunter Ray Hinds (Mackenzy), Grant Hinds (Brittany), Chandler Gann, Parker Hinds, Caroline Gann, Kimbrell Hinds, Mary Harbin Hinds and Katie Claire Gann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Beth Hinds and brother Jack Hinds.
Ray enjoyed being with his grandkids more than anything. He loved spending time in his shop and growing his sunflowers. Ray was a deacon and life long Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Carbon Hill. He retired with 40 years as a lineman with Alabama Power.
