CARBON HILL — J.B. Pennington pulled away from Carbon Hill in the fourth quarter on Friday night at G.W. Keith Stadium, earning a 35-12 victory over the Bulldogs.
Carbon Hill struck first against the Tigers with Josh Williams returning a fumble 95 yards for a score midway through the first quarter for a 6-0 lead. The teams swapped scores into the third quarter.
Pennington led 7-6 at the half, but Carbon Hill regained the lead with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Clay Tittle to Blake Wright for a 12-7 advantage in the third quarter. Pennington went ahead for good with 5:30 left in the quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run. The Tigers added a 6-yard touchdown run late in the quarter for a 21-12 lead.
Pennington scored a pair of touchdowns — on a short pass and a short run — to earn the 35-12 win.
For the Bulldogs, Tittle was 9 of 21 passing for 76 yards and a score. Wright caught three passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Tristan Terry had 12 tackles and two pass breakups. Dalton Perry had 11 tackles and a tackle for loss. Carbon Hill (2-4, 1-3) plays at county rival Oakman next week.
