Jasper stays perfect in area play

The Jasper Vikings picked up another dominant victory on Tuesday, beating the Jackson-Olin Mustangs, 17-0, to remain perfect in Class 6A, Area 10 play.

Ashton Prescott got the win in the circle for the Vikings, giving up two hits with five strikeouts in three shutout innings.

At the plate, Isabella Brown recorded a three-run triple, Prescott and Shanna Sexton had two-run doubles each, Makayla McClendon and Diamond Hightower had RBI singles, Ivey Kelley, Idaysia Mercer, Chloe Frazier, Makayla Cook and Hadley Williams scored two runs each and Makenzie Abrams, Faith Murray, Virginia O'Rear and Kylie Jackson each scored a run.

Jasper scored 15 runs in the first inning, highlighted by Brown's three-run triple, Prescott's two-RBI double and McClendon's one-run single to take command, 15-0.

Sexton hit a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning for the 17-0 final.

Sumiton Christian 14, Addison 2

The Eagles stayed flawless in Class 2A, Area 10 competition with Tuesday's 14-2 win over the Addison Bulldogs at Addison.

Kalista Cornelison pitched five innings for Sumiton Christian, giving up three hits with five strikeouts.

Offensively for the Eagles, Cornelison went 3 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Jessie Baughan was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a triple and a double, Gracie Ashley went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a triple, Maddie McCrary was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Rylee Erwin went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, BG Braswell hit a two-run homerun, Alex Erwin had a hit with two runs scored and two RBIs and Izzy Ingle recorded a hit with a run scored.

Anna Luker pitched five innings for Addison with two strikeouts.

At the plate for the Bulldogs, Luker had a two-run double, MacAyla Wilkins recorded a hit with a run scored, Madison Aderholt had a hit and Haley Walker scored a run.

Hayden 8, Curry 6

Ella Reese Wright pitched four innings for Curry, with six strikeouts. Alena Howse pitched two innings, giving up a hit.

At the plate, Kylee Trotter went 3 for 4 with a solo homerun, Alayna Key was 2 for 4 with a run scored, Linley Tubbs had a solo homerun, Jenna Madison hit a grandslam homerun, Lanie West and Taylor Mancone both had a hit with a run scored and Marissa Lawson recorded a hit.

Northside 9, Carbon Hill 4

Haleigh Lamon pitched four innings for Carbon Hill, giving up three earned runs. Santana Clark pitched three innings, giving up two hits with five strikeouts and no runs.

Offensively, Clark went 2 for 4 with a run scored, Alleigh Keeton recorded a hit with a run scored and an RBI, Reese Tittle and Mahaley Pugh both had a hit with an RBI and Brittany Parker and Kalee Edwards scored a run each.

Oakman 14, Winfield 4

Missy Odom got the win for Oakman, pitching three and two-thirds innings, giving up two hits, no runs and seven strikeouts. Jessy Aston pitched two and one-third innings, giving up three hits with three strikeouts.

At the plate, Jade Bonner went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Odom was 2 for 4 with a homerun, a run scored and three RBIs, Savannah Brown went 2 for 4 with a run scored, two RBIs and a homerun, Shalayiah Waid was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double, Terrah Sherer had a hit with three runs scored and an RBI, Alyssa and Ashanti Stewart both had a hit with a run scored and an RBI, Bailey Webb had a run scored with an RBI and McKenzie Brown scored a run.

Kaylee Wiginton pitched four innings with two strikeouts. Gracie Jordan pitched two innings, giving up two hits with two strikeouts.

Offensively, Jordan went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Anna Hosler was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a double, Sadie Tittle had a homerun with two runs scored, Amy Barton recorded a double and Kamri Tittle had a hit.
