Jasper falls to Shelby County in pitcher's duel

No. 3 Lynn blanks Addison


Despite a stellar outing from Peyton Thomasson on the mound the Jasper Vikings fell to Shelby County at Valley Park on Monday, losing a 1-0 decision.

The Wildcats pushed across one unearned run in the first inning and made the lead stand behind pitchers JP Fox and Connor Aderholt.

Thomasson went the distance for Jasper, allowing two hits and six walks while striking out five in seven innings.

The Vikings had four hits on the day. Ayden Payne and Connor Whitley were 1 for 2, Spencer Rosenfeld was 1 for 3 and Aiden McGinnis was 1 for 3 with a double.

For Shelby County (15-7), the No. 10 team in Class 5A, Fox allowed four hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in six innings and Aderholt earned the save, striking out two in one inning.

Jasper (16-8) plays an area game at Jackson-Olin today and will return home to face the Mustangs on Thursday.


No. 3 Lynn 3, Addison 0

Cale Tittle tossed a 3-hit shutout over 6 2/3 innings, leading No. 3 Lynn to a 3-0 win at Addison on Tuesday.

Tittle struck out 13 batters and walked one. Chance Majors got the final out for the save.

The Bears broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the sixth inning when John Bryan singled and scored on an error. In the seventh, Tittle scored on an error and Lance Harris singled home Riley Humphries.

Bryan, Brandon Hill, Tittle, Harris and Marcus Meek had hits for the Bears.

Lynn (14-2) hosts Addison today.
