James Alan (Jim) Ingram, 73, of Tuscaloosa, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023.
James was born on January 1, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., and moved down to Alabama as a young kid. He graduated from Cordova High School, went on to attend a local college before being drafted into the Air Force. He served four years in the Air Force, making friends with several who he spent time with and talking to on the phone up until his death.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he enrolled in college at the University of Alabama, graduated and began a career as a social worker for the State of Alabama and then retired after 30 years of service to the community.
A lifelong traveler to Ireland and countries nearby, over the course of his life he made more than 25 trips to Ireland and was planning at least two more.
He was preceded in death by by his parents, Huey and Jean Ingram, and two brothers, John and Jerrold.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Harris, and four grandchildren, Ireland (Laney), Garrett, Olivia and Nathan Harris; two sisters, Nancy Ingram and Mary Ann Tucker (Paul) and their daughter, Hayley Schweitzer; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Per his request, there was no ceremony and his remains will be taken to Ireland to some of his favorite locations.
