The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide involving a father and son that happened Tuesday on Highway 5.
A 38-year-old male was shot by his father while asleep in bed, and the father turned a gun on himself when law enforcement arrived, Sheriff Nick Smith said Tuesday afternoon.
Walker County Coroner identified the victims on Wednesday as David Michael King, 70, and Brandon King, 38.
The incident happened in the 8000 block of Highway 5.
A third party called the sheriff’s department around 2 p.m. and said the father had sent a picture through Facebook Messenger showing that the victim had been shot. He also threatened to shoot himself if law enforcement arrived.
When the deputy arrived at the residence, he heard a single gunshot from inside the house.
After backup arrived, officers found the 38-year-old dead in the bedroom from a gunshot to the forehead and the father dead in the living room.
