Douglas E. 'Doug' Williams, 87, passed away peacefully in his home in Bremen,  surrounded by his wife, Glenda and stepdaughter, Mellany. 

Doug was born February 1, 1935, in Bremen and was one of eight children born to George and Rilla Williams. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, at Bell Sumiton Chapel, with burial at Rice’s Chapel Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Doug was a man loved by many who never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed one. He was a devoted husband and had a most caring heart. Doug served his country proudly in the Korean War with great honor and respect. He loved gardening, going to car shows and showing off his classic cars and was a truck driver for 33 years. Doug was ready to go to his heavenly home to meet his Savior and be reunited with his family.

Doug was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Rilla and George Williams; son, Kenneth Williams; three sisters, Opal Handley, Betty Jean Bonham, and Valeria Bridges; half-sister, Nita Bradley; three brothers, Wayne, John, and Buddy; and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Williams; daughter, Karen Paulsen; stepdaughter, Mellany Fields; grandson, Eric Paulsen; and step-grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Jessica, MaKayla and Katie; great-granddaughter, Kensly Paulsen; half-sister, Rita Barnett; half-brother, Larry Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
