‘Dog Daze’ returns for second year in Arley

Dogs and puppies of all shapes and sizes will gather with their owners on Saturday in Hamner Park for the second annual “Dog Daze of Arley.”

The canines will compete for coveted titles such as “Furriest,” “Most Waggy,” Best Costume,” Most Vocal,” “Best Kisser (with owner),” “Best Smile (dog + owner),” “Most Photogenic” and “People’s Choice.”

Registered dogs will also be featured on the 2020 Arley Women’s Club Dog Daze Calendar, which is available for purchase.

The event, presented by the Arley Women’s Club in partnership with Free State Four Paws, Winston County’s only dog rescue, begins with registration at 9:30 am at Hamner Park on Helicon Road in Arley followed by a pet parade at 10 a.m. and prize awards at 10:45.

Visitors can meet local veterinarians, boarders, and trainers, and enjoy a professional photo booth, refreshments, and numerous vendor booths.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Free State Four Paws and the Arley Women’s Club’s scholarships and community projects.

Applications and details are located on the Arley Women’s Club Facebook page. In case of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3, beginning at 2 pm.
