Dennis Gene Corbell

September 5, 1950 - January 9, 2022

Retired Police Captain, Dennis Gene Corbell, 71, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Ridgeview Health Services.

Mr. Corbell was born in Fernbank, Alabama on September 5, 1950. His parents, Roy and Denna Corbell, along with his son, Stone Corbell; brother, Buddy Corbell; and sisters, Dorothy Blanton, Amie Stevenson, Lois Mordecai, and Avie Duke all preceded him in death.

Dennis Corbell was a strong man who loved his friends and family. Dennis devoted his life to serving others and making his community a kinder and safer place to live. He began his law enforcement career with the City of Jasper Police Department on May 4, 1973. He lived everyday with honesty and integrity as he went about his duties in law enforcement. During his lifelong career he held many positions with Jasper Police Department including, patrolman, sergeant, investigator, motor-scout, lieutenant, and Captain. He made countless friends along the way. He was never too busy to stop into local businesses or residences just to say hi. He helped countless young police officers through training, guidance and leadership. Those who knew Dennis also know that he was a continuous prankster. At the police department, you turned your back on Captain at your own risk! Captain Dennis Corbell retired with 45 years of service with the Jasper Police Department. He loved to laugh and to make those around him laugh as well! Dennis had a love and talent for wood working. Turning wood into pens, bird houses, and making Christmas decorations. He also enjoyed spending time taking photos and accumulated an impressive collection of photographs that he had taken.

He is survived by his wife, Marla W. Corbell; son, Chris Corbell (Anita); daughter, Brandy Hollard (Mike); daughter, Amber Corbell; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Powell (Eric); stepson, Dayton Wakefield (Sarah); and stepson, Wesley Pollard; grandchildren, Kelly, Brandon, Dalton Corbell, Mallory Lewis (Logan) Sam, Emerson and Harper Holland, Nelson Olive, Lee and Laurel Ellis, Colton Corbell and Maddux Pollard; and sisters, Doris Parson, Judy Miles, Eulene Gardner, Elna Hope; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 2 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church Jasper, Alabama. The Reverends, Alan Beasley and Heath Allred will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
