Curry G. Cooper, Jr.

January 11, 1947 – April 6, 2022

Curry G. CooperJr., 75, of Cordova, passed away April 6, 2022. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Curry Griffen Cooper Sr.; mother, Annie May Myrick Cooper; the loving mother of his children, Fran Cooper; son, Brian Cooper; brothers, Joe Cooper, Pete Cooper and Carl Cooper (Mary Ellen); nephew, Johnny Cooper; and his sister-in-law, Louise Cooper. 

Curry is survived by his son, Randall Cooper (Stacey); granddaughters, Hanna Cooper, Ashlee Mayhall, Hayleigh Mayhall and Tiffany Rozek ( Nick); brother, William; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. 

Curry served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, Rifle Expert, Pistol Expert and a Good Conduct Medal for his service. 

Curry was a member of the Honor Guard and the Combat Veterans. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He also served as Sr. Curry Cooper, 4th degree, Knight of Columbus Council 10567 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Adamsville. Sir Curry was instrumental in all aspects of the Knights of Columbus and is deeply respected by his brother Knights. 

Curry worked and retired from Alabama Power Company. He was always ready to help a friend in need and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. 

Funeral services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Monday, April 11, 2022. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon, with funeral Mass beginning at noon. Burial with military honors will follow at McCormack Cemetery. The Rev. Vernon Huguley will officiate.
