Cordova’s Cody Headrick named Player of Week

A heart-breaking 28-21 loss to region opponent Wenonah couldn’t dull a dazzling performance from Cordova sophomore quarterback Cody Headrick on Friday night at Hudson-Kerby Field.
Headrick completed 12 of 20 passes for 216 yards, with three touchdowns and an interception to be awarded the WJLX 101.5/DME Prepzone Week 7 Player of the Week.
Headrick connected with his receivers on touchdown passes of 12, 30 and 45 yards. 
Adam O’Rear, Corea Killings and Cade Naramore each had touchdowns. 
Other notable performances:
ADDISON:  Christian Roberts totaled six touchdowns in Addison’s 50-14 victory over Cold Springs, along with 315 all-purpose yards. Roberts connected on 4 of 6 passes for 114 yards, while running for 201 yards on 16 carries. He had touchdown runs of 35, 21, 1, 13 and 54 yards, while throwing a 34-yard touchdown pass in a 50-14 rout of Cold Springs.
CARBON HILL: Defensively, Tristan Terry recorded 12 tackles and had two pass break-ups, while Dalton Perry had 11 tackles and a tackle for a loss in a 35-12 loss to Pennington.
CORNER: In the 35-33 win over Lincoln, Tommy Reed ran for 181 yards on 27 carries with a score. Colin Daniel rushed for 94 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns, while throwing for 76 yards and a score.
CURRY: Caden Riley rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries in Curry’s 49-36 shootout loss to Oak Grove. Riley added three 2-point conversions.
DORA: Jamarcus Goodmon led the Bulldogs in the victory over Fultondale with 177 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns. Dee Wilkerson had seven receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns and also had five tackles, including two tackles for loss.
LYNN: Logan Kent rushed for 108 yards on 12 carries, while Griffin Lynn recorded 11 tackles.
OAKMAN: The Wildcats had plenty of contributors in the key 33-7 win over Susan Moore. Bubba Odom completed 10 of 19 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns. J.T. O’Rear was his top target with four catches for 85 yards and a score. Kaedyn Marchbanks rushed for 129 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown. Derek Hubbard had eight carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns and added a receiving touchdown.
SUMITON CHRISTIAN: Eli Moon came up with the game-clinching interception in the Eagles’ critical win over Gaylesville, while also rushing for 70 yards on 14 carries.
