Clelley Ray Turner, 76, of Dora, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Ray, or better known as Pepaw, was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked for both Drummond Coal and Birmingham Southern for over 40 years. He was an honored veteran with two years of service in the Army, and of those two years, he spent 14 months stationed in Germany.
He was one of eight children and was preceded in death by his father, Clelley Samuel Turner and his mother, Elizabeth Jane Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherry Anne Turner; son, Kerry Turner (Kristi); daughters, Candice Turner and Brooke Purvis (Scott); grandchildren, Haley Harpman (Robby), Madison Purvis, Hannah Turner, Garrett Purvis, Hollee Turner, and Colt Purvis; brother, Allen Turner (Denise); sister, Rosetta Graves (Arthur); brother, Glenn Turner; sister, Brenda Anderson (Wayne); sister, Debra Johnson (John); sister, Donna Fay Hopson (James); and brother, Jerry Turner (Joy). He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pall bearers include grandsons, Garrett Purvis and Colt Purvis; nephews, Todd Turner, Kyle Robinson, Mason Adams, Jared Adams and Ryan Creel; and cousin, Tracy Robbins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15th at 11 a.m. at New Horizon Memorial in Dora, with burial at New Horizon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
