Carbon Hill snaps skid with region win over Holly Pond


CARBON HILL — Carbon Hill shook off a three-game losing streak with a dominant performance in a 32-8 home victory over Holly Pond on Friday.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never trailed in the game.

Clay Tittle got the scoring started for Carbon Hill, rushing for a 4-yard touchdown midway through the opening quarter for a 6-0 lead. After Blake Wright recovered an on-side kick, The Bulldogs went back to work with a double pass touchdown. Tittle threw the ball to Blake Wright who connected with Zack Lawhorn on a 47-yard touchdown pass.

After Holly Pond cut the gap to 12-8, Carbon Hill got a 1-yard touchdown run from Devon Daniel with 2:50 left in the first half for an 18-8 lead.

The Bulldogs added touchdowns in each of the next two quarters. Tittle connected with Dalton Perry on a 31-yard touchdown pass with 6:10 left in the third quarter and Walker Kimbrell threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Terry for the final score. Daniel added the 2-point conversion run.

Daniel finished with 139 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also caught two passes for 30 yards.

Tittle completed 13 of 18 passes for 148 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Perry caught five passes for 73 yards and a score.

Defensively, Kory McGough had eight tackles and two tackles for loss, Perry had seven tackles, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

Carbon Hill is off next week before hosting JB Pennington.
