Betty Maxine Wade Plyler, 88, of Jasper, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Ridgeview Health Service in Jasper.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Plyler Builders, and was a long-time member of Liberty Church of Christ and Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. Betty devoted her life in service to others through her volunteer work with church, teaching Sunday school for many years and missions through World Bible School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Indian Creek Youth Camp in her memory.
Graveside services were Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Levi Sides and David Wade will officiate.
Plyler was preceded in death by her father, Fletcher Wade; mother, Willie Nell Wade; her husband of 59 years, Brodie Russell Plyler; and grandparents, Emil and Maude Herzig and Lorenzo and Julia Waid.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Plyler (Mona) and Stephen Plyler (Katrina), daughters, Gail Dodd (Randall) and Linda Guthrie (Gary); sister, JoAnn Gurganus (L.T.); brother, David Waid (Helen); grandchildren, Lee Thomaston, Cory Thomaston (Bevin), Lydia Tittle (Brandon), Lauren Baker (Matthew), and Christy Smith (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Cooper Thomaston, Ellie Thomaston, RaeLeigh Thomaston, Riley Baker, Holland Baker, Tristan Smith and Peyton Smith.
