Bankhead collects nearly 3,000 cans for community

Bankhead Middle School recently held a successful canned food drive. The school's goal was to collect 1,000 cans, but 2,852 were donated. Mrs. Pate's homeroom collected 1,000 cans and won a pizza party. The second place for donations went to Mrs. Chatham's class for collecting 491 cans, and Mrs. Scarberry's class brought 408 cans, earning third place. Bankhead Principal Amber Freeman said the cans were donated to Cordova's food bank at Long Memorial Methodist Church.
