A national furniture store chain will soon be opening a location in Jasper, according to an announcement made by the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County on Thursday. Chamber President Linda Lewis said Badcock Home Furniture has confirmed it will be opening a store in Jasper next door to Planet Fitness in the location formerly filled by Mission Possible Thrift Store. “We are excited to confirm that Badcock Furniture will be coming to Jasper soon,” Lewis said. “We feel they will be a great addition to our retail community and look forward to working with them.” Lewis contributed the Chamber’s working relationship with Birmingham-firm Retail Strategies as a key in bringing the furniture company to the area. She also said there no definite opening date set for the store.

Badcock is currently accepting applications for employment at the Jasper location through its website, www.badcock.com/careers. The company currently has posted positions for delivery specialists and sales associates. Badcock Home Furniture is a chain of more than 320 furniture stores in eight states. The company is based in Mulberry, Fla., and as first established in 1904. Representatives with Badcock could not be reached for comment Thursday as of press time. Lewis said the Jasper area is drawing interest from many retail companies. “Jasper and Walker County is open for business,” she said. “We are speaking with a number of people with interest in locating here. Our market is strong, and we expect more positive announcements in the near future.”
