Arthur Ray Leggett, 80, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at his residence.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10 until 11 a.m., at New Prospect Baptist Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m., with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery. Bro. Howard Thompson will officiate.
Arthur was born on November 9, 1937, in Birmingham, AL. He and his mother lived in Atlanta, GA for several years. He attended Walker County High School from 1952 to 1955. He enlisted in the Army in July 1956 and served until March 1959, when he was honorably discharged. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and sports enthusiast especially Alabama Crimson Tide Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He was an ordained deacon at New Prospect Baptist Church where he cheerfully served for many years. He loved his family, his friends, and most importantly Jesus Christ. He was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Leggett Patterson and father, Oscar Studdard.
He is survived by his wife, Joye Leggett; children, Cynthia Leggett and Kristie Leggett Paterson (Craig); like a daughter, Melodie Green (Chris); grandchildren, Heather Hitt (Levi) and April Green; special cousin, Wayne Studdard and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, Jasper, AL
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Dexter, Bobby Cagle and Wayne Studdard
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of New Prospect Baptist Church.
