The 10th Annual Meeting of C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance, Inc. will be held on Friday, June 25 at the Earl McDonald Auditorium on the Fayette campus of Bevill State Community College.
The annual meeting is normally held in January each year, but the 2020 meeting was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance, Inc., known locally as C3, represents Marion, Lamar and Fayette counties with a primary focus of marketing the three-county region to new and existing businesses for the creation and retention of jobs for area residents.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Plan to enjoy a brunch, catered by Fannie’s, & networking with friends and business associates from 9 – 10 a.m. The program will begin at 10 a.m.
The guest speaker for the meeting will be state Rep. Kyle South, serving District 16 in the Alabama House of Representatives which includes Fayette, Lamar, Tuscaloosa and Jefferson counties. South has held the position since 2014 and is the vice chairman of the Ways and Means General Fund Committee and is a member of the Financial Services Committee and the Insurance Committee.
South will not only review the most recent legislative session, he will discuss the impact COVID-19 had on the economy and business in 2020 and how the future looks for the state and our region as we move forward after a tumultuous year.
Tom Wisemiller, C3’s new president & CEO, stated, “We are thrilled that Representative South has accepted our invitation to serve as keynote speaker and we look forward to hearing his thoughts on the economic resiliency of Alabama over the past year and half as well as future opportunities for the region and state.”
In addition to South’s presentation, Wisemiller will share an update on the events of 2020 and an outlook for 2021. The program will be emceed by 2020 chairman of the board, Wade Nixon and 2021 chairman of the board, Mark Brown.
Also, at this year’s event, C3 will recognize the outstanding dedication shown by the medical community in responding to the pandemic and preparing the community for a healthy and vibrant post-pandemic resurgence.
Awards will be presented to the 2020 Champion of the Year and the 2020 Industry of the Year. The board will honor David Thornell, who was C3’s CEO for the past 10 years prior to retiring in January.
