The 19th annual Pets on Parade was held at Gamble Park in Jasper on Saturday. People were invited to bring their pets and enter them in a number of categories such as "best trained" or "best costume." The entry fee in each category was $5 and all proceeds will benefit the Walker County Humane Society's spay and neuter program. The event was sponsored by the Junior Ambassadors of the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County.  more

Crowds turned out to downtown Sumiton Saturday under nice weather for the Frog Festival, making a return after being cancelled last year due to COVID-19. The festival appeared to go smoothly that morning, with visitors eagerly going to food and craft vendors, children's rides, entertainment, downtown stores and other diversions.
