The Town of Parrish held its annual Christmas parade on Thursday night, kicking off the holiday parade season in Walker County. The 30th annual Christmas in Nauvoo parade will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., and the Empire Community Christmas Parade will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

A new fishing pier is currently being constructed at Disney Lake in Cordova.  The project is a collaborative effort between the city of Cordova, the Walker County Health Action Partnership and the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division.  Funding is being provided by the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, Walker Area Community Foundation and the Alabama Power Foundation. The city is providing in-kind labor.
