Seniors in Cordova got a unique Easter basket with their meal pickup at the Cordova Senior Center on Thursday. Center director Jamie Colvert collected supplies for spring cleaning baskets. Supplies were donated by the senior center, Alabama Hospice, Comfort Care Home Health and Hospice, Kindred Hospice, Cordova Health and Rehabilitation and Alan Duke of Viva Medicare.

The Jack Daniel Distillery, located in Lynchburg, Tennessee, was established in 1866 and has the claim of being the first registered distillery in the United States. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. Because it is located in a dry county, the White Rabbit Bottle Shop located on-site is the only place in Lynchburg where the famous whiskey can be sold. All bottles sold there are considered commemorative. A visitor's center displays a variety of memorabilia, including a bottle collection belonging to the brand's first marketing director, Art Hancock, and his wife, Char. The distillery offers tours, which have been modified to adhere to COVID-19 protocols. Souvenirs bearing the iconic brand are sold in downtown Lynchburg at the Lynchburg Hardware and General Store, which sells nothing but Jack Daniel's merchandise. Alabama has close ties to Jack Daniel's. The white oak used for making the barrels in which the whiskey is stored for several years to acquire its color and flavor is milled in Stevenson and the barrels themselves are put together at a cooperage in Lawrence County.
