T.R. Simmons Elementary School's annual book fair began on Thursday. The book fair will be held through next Friday. Principal Meagan Fields said all proceeds will be used to purchase books for the school's library. Thursday and Friday were deemed "grand" shopping days where grandparents or other "special someones" were invited to the school. Fields said the occasion was momentous, considering it was the first time visitors had been allowed inside the school since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Members of the Lupton Jr. High School Beta Club have been spending time at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, this week. The students participated in a leadership class through Disney World's Imagination Campus program where they learned about Disney's five core values — safety, courtesy, inclusion, show and efficiency. Students also had an opportunity to interview Disney cast members and learn about their leadership styles. more

T.R. Simmons Elementary School had Career Day last week for students to share what they would like to be when they get older. Some dressed as doctors, nurses and veterinarians, while others dressed as police officers, construction workers, artists and chefs. Many other careers were represented as well.

With COVID-19 cases on the decline in Jasper schools, the school system no longer required masks as of Monday.
