Christine was the oldest child of William Frank and Myra Brantley. When she was a young child, her parents relocated to the Goodway community of Monroe County where she graduated from J.U. Blacksher High School.
In 1952, she married Ralph Culbreth, a native of Evergreen, and lived in Brewton and then Evergreen. They were married for 58 years and were blessed with two children, Dennis and Nancy. Christine spent her working years employed as an administrative assistant for the state of Alabama, first in the Department of Pensions and Security in Brewton and then with the state highway department in Evergreen.
Culbreth was a member of the Pilot Club and was an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church, where she was involved with the WMU and served alongside her husband, who was a deacon at EBC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph N. Culbreth; parents, William Frank and Myra Wiggins Brantley; three brothers, William Frank Brantley Jr., Hollis E. Brantley and an unnamed infant brother; and one sister, Mary E. Brantley.
Culbreth is survived by her son, Dennis Culbreth and his wife, Marybeth, of Jasper; daughter, Nancy Turner and her husband, Jack Turner, of Wetumpka; grandchildren, Andrew Culbreth of Evergreen, Matthew Culbreth and his wife, Elizabeth Craig, of Birmingham, Carolyn Kate Turner of Wetumpka, Grace Culbreth of Birmingham and Nancy Anne Turner of Wetumpka; brothers, Charles Brantley, Robert Earl Brantley, Harlan Brantley and Joe Brantley; and sister, Eloise Leggiero.
Funeral services will be held today, July 1, 2014, in the chapel of Cope Funeral Home with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2 p.m. and the funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Dennis Culbreth and Jack Williamson will officiate.
