The work of Birmingham folk artist Brian Bohanan will be featured at the next installment of Tasting of the Arts on Thursday.

Ruby Tuesday will be catering the event, which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Walker County Arts Alliance office on 19th Street in downtown Jasper.

Tickets are $20 for members or $40 for non members. The latter includes a 2014 membership to WCAA.

Bohanan, a self-taught artist who uses recycled wood and repurposed objects in his mixed media folk art, has appeared at the Arts Alliance’s annual juried art show, Art in the Park, for several years.

“He is a favorite artist of the local residents,” said executive coordinator Pat Putman.

Tasting of the Arts, a showcase of local artists, was established last year in celebration of WCAA’s 10th anniversary.

The lobby of the nonprofit’s downtown office is transformed into an art gallery for each event.

Lauren Solomon and Bill Young III have been featured at previous Tasting of the Arts events this year. Two more shows are scheduled.
