Members of local VFW Post 4850 conducted a brief Memorial Day ceremony Saturday morning at the courthouse square. Ladies Auxiliary President Paulette Murray noted that the evergreen wreath placed upon a monument honoring fallen soldiers is “a symbol of eternity. Its color bespeaks life everlasting. Thus do we say that the deeds of our soldiers, sailors airmen and marines on land, on sea and in the air are immortalized in the hearts of a grateful people." – Photo by: Jennifer Cohron.
