Hattie D. West, 80, formerly of Kiwanis Manor, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin, Ohio.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Autumnwood Care Center with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating.

Hattie was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Walker County to John Earl and Lillie Pearl (Daniels) Gaddy. She married James D. West on March 17, 1951, in Itawamba County, Miss. He passed away in 1976. Hattie worked with her husband farming and also was a caregiver for children.

She was a former member of Old Fort Baptist Church and enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and spending time at Zimmerman Park.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James C. West; a daughter, Tammy A. West; six brothers, Bennie, George, Earl, James, John and Olie Gaddy; a sister, Nora Hunt; and two great-grandchildren, Axel Stansbery and Damien Stansbery.

Her survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Lee Everetts of Tiffin, Ohio; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Buskirk, Kara Stansbery and Gabriell Everetts; four great-grandchildren, Luke Stansbery, Anyanka Stansbery, Robyn Buskirk and Lily Buskirk; three brothers, Joe Gaddy of Florida, James Gaddy Jr. of Alabama and Darryl Gaddy of Jasper; and two sisters, Dorothy Lee Cleghorn and Donna Gilliland, both of Alabama.
