These services include:
• Individual, group, and family readjustment counseling to assist the service member’s post-deployment transition.
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment and help with other related problems that may negatively impact family, work, school and other areas of everyday life.
• Military sexual trauma counseling for active duty service members of both genders.
To help inform more active duty service members about these recent changes, the Birmingham Vet Center will be setting up its Mobile Vet Center at various events throughout Alabama, in the coming months.
The Mobile Vet Center is a state-of-the-art vehicle equipped with confidential counseling space that active duty service members, veterans and their family members can use for re-adjustment counseling services.
The Mobile Vet Center will be set up Friday, March 7, from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic located at 1454 Jones Dairy Road (behind Walker Baptist Medical Center) in Jasper.
