Coach Heath Burns and the Parrish High School basketball team should be proud of reaching the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Class 1A state championship game this season.

The team didn’t come away with a win in Friday’s game, and that’s OK. St. Jude — a perennial powerhouse in Class 1A basketball — won its second straight title with a 65-37 win over the Tornadoes.

While it hurts to not bring home the state championship, team members — and the entire Parrish High student body and members of the community — should be proud of what was accomplished this season. Burns led the team to a 28-3 record this season, and along the way the team proved to be among the elite high school teams in the state.

We imagine the Parrish community is proud of the young men on this year’s team, and so are we.

Congratulations on a great season.
