Students at West Jasper Elementary School participated in a Pink Day held at the school Tuesday, Oct. 29. Kids paid $1 to have their hair sprayed pink, and balloons also were sold for $1 each. Students watched a video in the gym about breast cancer awareness and then held an awareness walk that 13 classes took part in.

The class that sold the most balloons was rewarded with a pink party, which was Kacie Lakey’s fourth-grade class. Lakey was also the teacher who was in charge of the day’s events. Lakey said the school raised more than $400 in support of breast cancer awareness. For more photos from the event, go to the Daily Mountain Eagle’s Facebook page.
