Mabel McCoy, 91, of Jasper, passed away on Oct. 28, 2013 in Birmingham.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, from 10 until 11 a.m. with a memorial service following at First Presbyterian Church of Jasper.

Mabel was born in Anniston, Ala., to Scott and Madge Clark Wing on July 19, 1922. She attended school in Anniston and Talladega County. She graduated from Alabama College (now the University of Montevallo) in 1944. She married Earl McCoy on April 21, 1948 in Birmingham, Ala. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a room mother at her children’s school, Girl Scout Leader and band booster. She loved to cook and did French hand sewing and smocking for all of the grandchildren and they were beautifully dressed. In her later years, she loved reading on her Kindle and browsing the internet.

Mabel is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl McCoy; and her brothers, Willard and Marvin Wing.

Mabel is survived by her children, Jane Elizabeth Reding and her husband, Cleve, of Montgomery and David Earl McCoy and his wife, Teresa, of Pelham; grandchildren, Regan Jewett and her husband, Tim, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Christopher Reding of Birmingham, Jennifer McCoy, Angela Rush and her husband, Tristen, and Ashley McCoy of Pelham; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn McCoy of Pelham and Kellen Reding of Trussville.
