No. 4 Bibb County tops Corner, moves to 9-0

CORNER — Fourth-ranked Bibb County jumped out to a big lead and held on for a comfortable 36-23 win over the Corner Yellow Jackets on Friday.

Bibb County running backs TJ Bell and TJ Lockett each rushed for more than 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Choctaws improved to 9-0, 7-0 on the season.

With the win, Bibb County finished perfect in region play for the fourth time in the last five years. Bell opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run for a 6-0 lead.

Corner cut the gap to 6-3 with a 31-yard field goal from Cody Stevens at the 6:22 mark of the second quarter.

Bibb County padded its lead later in the quarter with a 1-yard run to make the score 14-3 going into the second half.

The Choctaws added another touchdown in the third quarter with Bell going into the end zone from 13 yards out for a 22-3 advantage.

Corner (4-5, 3-4) scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Chris Huff hit Dylan Hand for a 5-yard touchdown to cut the gap to 22-9.

Bibb County put the game away with a pair of touchdowns. Deszmond Kersh returned a kickoff 93 yards for a score and Lockett added a 9-yard run.

Corner’s last two touchdowns came on a Cole Lepchitz 40-yard reception from Huff and a Hunter Doppler 8-yard touchdown. Doppler added 20 tackles and an interception on defense.
